Making a Vision Board to Support your SMART Goals
Now that you have your SMART goals in place from last week’s post it is time to make a vision board to support those goals.
What is a Vision board?
A vision board is a collage of images, pictures, and affirmations of your dreams, goals, and things that make you happy. It can also be called a dream board, treasure map, or vision map. Creating a vision board can be a useful tool to help you conceptualize your goals and can serve as a source of motivation as you work towards achieving your dreams.
Why should I make a vision board?
A vision board puts your SMART goals into a visually stimulating and motivating tool that acts as a reminder that no matter happens during your day, you are reminded of where you intend to be.
What is a positive affirmation?
The use of Positive affirmations is a way of changing a false belief system. If you repeat the positive affirmations enough times (daily) it becomes true in your belief system. This relates to the Law of attraction. Whether you understand the Law of Attraction or not, it is constantly working and delivering to you what you are thinking about in your mind.
We want your vision board to be about your SMART goals. Feel free to add items that are related to those goals: pictures of places you want to go to, things you want to acquire, people in your life, those you want to meet, and even pictures of people that inspire you.
How to Make a Vision Board
Write down what you want. Check! You did that last week.
Cut out pictures from magazines, words, quotes that relate to your goals and dreams. Print images from the internet. Print quotes that speak to you and motivate you.
Glue items you found in step two to a large poster board or attach them to a cork board.
Place your board where you will see it every day.
Some people take a picture of their vision board and keep it on their phone so they can view it on a constant basis. Do what works best for you.
Please share pictures of your completed vision board in the comments.
